I just found a box turtle poor thing has nail polish on his shell! Is there anything safe or any way remove it

the polish will not hurt the turtle but you can remove it by getting some nail polish remover but get the sort that is acetone free, put some on a cotton bud and gently wipe the nail varnish off, rinse the shell after with warm water making sure no water goes in the eyes or mouth, don't use any abrasive products as this can damage the shell doing more harm than good, hope all goes well best of luck.I just found a box turtle poor thing has nail polish on his shell! 鈥淚 tried a product called Fast Orange, a cream hand cleaner sold in automotive parts stores, discount stores, and hardware stores. The active ingredients are citric acid and ground pumice stone. I found that the best way to use this was to dampen the turtle, then smear the hand cleaner on her and let it sit for a minute or two. Then I alternated between using a pot scrubbing pad and an old toothbrush to remove the paint. Sometimes I was able to simply peel the paint off with my fingernail in some spots on her shell. This took several days, the scrubbing was irritating to her so I鈥檇 have to work on her a couple of times a day to keep her from being too uncomfortable. After three or four days, all that was left were tiny flecks of paint that were not even noticeable. 鈥?br>

Please don't leave it to wear off by it's self enless the turtle is full grown. Otherwise the paint will effect the growth of the turtle.I just found a box turtle poor thing has nail polish on his shell! Is there anything safe or any way remove it
Acetone free nail polish remover, rinsed off afterwards should be fine. If it has markings on it though, it might be someone's pet. You should put up ';Found'; ads in your neighborhood (I doubt the box turtle wandered too far) or a found post in your local paper or craigslist.
yyes, nail polish can hurt it, take a warm wash cloth, and gently rub at it, if that doesn't work, use a q-tip or take it to vet... :( do not use nail polish remover, (it will burn it worse than the nail polish its self)
I highly doubt the nail polish would hurt it. Must be someones pet maybe you should put out a flier for found turtle. But if the nail polish really bothers you try nail polish remover.
maybe this turtle is trying to make a fashion statement. I think you should leave it on there, evidently it's not bothering said turtle.
Soap and a sponge, you can also see if nail polish remover will work
if its on its shell nail polish wont hurt it nor will trying to remove it with nail polish remover
try soap and water. if that doesnt work, try nail polish remover, but not to much.
